President; Secretary of Organization of TÜRK-İŞ and the President of General Mine Workers
Union Çetin ALTUN; “No Permission for Mistakes” The mine workers warned the AKP (Justice
and Development Party) government with a similar demonstration awakening the
strike and the Grand March of Zonguldak
in the year 1990 and 1994. The mine workers gathered in front of the
Union Headquarters and marched towards the General Directorate of the Turkish
Hard Coal Enterprises headed by the Secretary of Organization of TÜRK-İŞ and the
President of General Mine Workers Union Çetin ALTUN and the other executive
board members of the headquarters and the branches. President ALTUN addressed two thousand mine
workers under a heavy snow in front of the directorate and called on the
Prime Minister Tayyip ERDOĞAN and the Minister of Energy Hilmi GÜLER to keep
their promises. Our Union has filed a law suit at the
Administrative Tribunal Our trade union’s
executive board has filed a law suit at the Administrative Tribunal of
Zonguldak in order to cancel the procurement issued to establish modular
washeries at Üzülmez and Kozlu regions which will be operated by the third
parties and also against the closure of the central washery of Turkish Hard
Coal Enterprises. President ALTUN and the Executive Board
members of General Mine Workers Union filed a law suit at the Administrative
Tribunal of Zonguldak on the 9th of February in order to cancel
the procurement issued to establish modular washeries at the Turkish Hard
Coal Enterprises. While answering the questions of the press,
ALTUN emphasized the fact that such a procurement was against the interest
and the profit of the public and that it was also in contradiction with the
aim of the enterprise to produce 5 million tons/year; “The Central Washery is located at the most
suitable place and this fact was approved with the reports prepared by the
experts from two different universities and by the technical staff of the
Enterprise. The enterprise can not afford a sub-contractor. It must establish
and operate the washeries itself.” |
